Things to do on the Gold Coast

There are a number of reasons people come to the Gold Coast and whether you are here for a short stay or a longer period, there is always something you can find to do, no matter what the weather.

The Gold Coast is best known for its beautiful sandy beaches and relaxed style, so the Waterways have a variety of activities for you to try from jetboating, kayaking, jet skiing, paddle boarding or cruising the canals on a number of boats, enjoying a cocktail and a prawn…..or 2.

Or venture further out to sea and cruise on some of the amazing vessels that can take you fishing, scuba diving or for that ‘Bucket List’ moment, be just one of the thousands of people that visit each year during the annual migration of the majestic Humpback Whale as they pass the Gold Coast heading north to warmer waters and back again. (between May and October) This experience is AW-inspiring.

The Countryside and Mountain areas offer some lovely drives, breathtaking scenery, countryside markets wineries etc. Take in a lovely walk through Springbrook and see the waterfalls, visit the little village of Canungra for a coffee or breakfast, enjoy a picnic and wine on the river at a winery or hike through the amazing National Park Trails at O’Reilly’s or Binna Burra. You might also like to take in a bit of shopping and wine tasting at Mount Tamborine.

And if you are a bit of a thrill seeker, why not jump out of a perfectly good aeroplane over the lovely coast or admire a beautiful sunrise whilst hot air ballooning over the hinterland.

On the Coast itself, there are numerous lovely cafes, restaurants, and places to shop. Whether it be high-end shopping at Pacific Fair, casual relaxed shopping at Robina Town Centre, Outlet shopping at Harbour Town or checking out the array of stalls and eateries at The Carrara Markets, there is something for everyone.

Then of course there are the tourist attractions/theme parks. Ride rollercoasters at Movie World or Sea World, pat a tiger and try the numerous activities at Dreamworld, see the amazing horses and show at Australian Outback, catch a show at ‘Star Casino’ or gather at one of the many festivals held each year especially if you love ‘Blues’ and ‘Country’.

On the ‘Chilled’ side, you may wish to just relax with a coffee and a good book, stroll along some of the 38km of golden beaches or work on your tan.

So whether you wish to keep yourself busy or just relax, there is something here for everyone!
